COMPLIANCE SERVICES and TRAINING

D.K. Everitt, CMCO, CCO

Our compliance team is led by D.K. Everitt, a Certified Medical Compliance Officer, whose work includes assessing medical facilities, implementing compliance plans and Corporate Integrity Agreements, and OSHA and HIPAA training.  He has authored manuals to assist medical and dental practices in keeping in compliance with state and federal regulations.  He has served as a preceptor for Trinity University and as an annual guest lecturer on compliance for their graduate Health Care Administration Department.

The following TCD programs have been created to meet the specific needs of your facility. We customize your program to assure you are in compliance with federal and state regulations.

TRAINING PROGRAMS

Make sure you are providing a safe and healthy working environment for your employees while protecting your practice from potentially high financial penalties.

Education is an important part of any compliance program and TCD can inexpensively assist you in meeting the training and documentation requiremetns of federal and state regulations, including OSHA, HIPAA and HAZMAT.

OSHA

Initial and annual OSHA employee education and training along with reviews, updates and written plans (Exposure Control, Hazard Communication, Emergency Action, MSDS Instructions).  Training will be documented and your facility will be issued a Certificate of Training that certifies that you have provided training that meets the OSHA and state requirements and are providing your employees with a safe, hazard free working environment. Go to the Resources page for information on purchasing the OSHA manual.

HIPAA and Texas HB300

Employee training that includes overview of HIPAA and Texas privacy and securityregulations and requirements, example scenarios and implementation checklists.  Along with the training manual, a compliance manual is provided that includes a HIPAA compliance plan, policies and procedures, forms, forms on disk and more.  Go to the Resources page to see information on purchasing the HIPAA manual.

COMPLIANCE PROGRAMS

Don't overlook the compliance health of your practice!  Establishing and operating a corporate compliance program is emerging as a standard industry practice for healthcare.  Care should be taken to assure that the plan or system adopted is designed for the specific size and operation of the organization.

An effective compliance program can further the mission of all providers to provide quality care for their patients.  Other benefits may include:

  • Development of effective internal procedures to ensure compliance with regulations, payment policies and coding rules
  • Improved medical record documentation
  • Improved education for employees
  • A reduction in the denial of claims
  • More streamlined operations through better communications and more comprehensive policies
  • The avoidance of potential liability arising from noncompliance
  • Reduced exposure to penalties

TCD has tools to assist practices in assessing and analyzing the compliance status of the internal operations of their facility including policies and procedures, coding and billing, medical records and physical plant.  The results of the analysis can serve as a "road map" for developing a compliance program.
